Note: BattletechMUX in a Box is currently in early development and lacks a lot of goodies. There are a number of bugs, and some of the included softcode needs some work. Development will resume once the codebase stabilizes, but for now there will be little in terms of updates. Nonetheless, BTMiaB is a good way to see some code examples to learn from.

BattletechMUX in a Box is a project to provide the framework necessary for a BTMux. This includes such things as:

  • New Player Registration/Authorization System.
  • Character Generation.
  • Basic global commands (finger, staff, who, etc.)
  • A collection of parents for rooms, mechs, hangars, etc.
  • Underlying things like the template system (viewref) and cron schedulers.
  • Useful functions.
  • Ample Documentation.

It is common to spend a week or more of development time on just establishing a BTMux's infrastructure. The objective of BTMux in a Box is to allow developers to fire it up, build their own scenario (IE: not included), and open up for play in a drastically shorter amount of time than if everything was coded from scratch. Added to that, the staff may take comfort in the quality of their backbone systems.
